ZLATAN BACKED FOR AWARD

AC Milan CEO Adriano Galliani has said that AC Milan striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has the ability and the skill to win the FIFA Ballon d'Or award one day.

Swedish striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic is currently the top scorer in the Italian Serie A alongside Udinese striker Antonio Di Natale. However, he is widely expected to be crowned as the Italian Serie A player of the year for his exploits with AC Milan this season.

He has almost single-handedly guided AC Milan to the top of the table, although they are currently top of the table due to the fact that Juventus have played a game less than them.

Still, Zlatan Ibrahimovic is one of the reasons for AC Milan to be dominating the Italian Serie A this season. Even better is the fact that the Swedish striker is one of the reasons for AC Milan to be in the quarter-finals of the Champions League. Zlatan Ibrahimovic scored the most important goal against Arsenal in the first leg of the last 16 stage. Even though AC Milan lost the second leg at the Emirates stadium quite heavily by 3-0, the goal by Zlatan Ibrahimovic in the first leg was enough to seal AC Milan's passage into the next round.

"I would like it so much. To win this award, however, also requires great results from the team. If he wins the Champions League or the World Cup, Zlatan could have this award sooner or later," Galliani told reporters. Winning the FIFA Ballon d'Or award is certainly not easy because each year only the winner of the Champions League or the World Cup will decide the eventual winner. This time around, it is more likely to be from a team that wins the Euro 2012 or the Champions League.
